POLK COUNTY, Iowa-  Water rescue teams from Johnston and Ankeny were called out today (Thursday) morning after someone spotted a large SUV partially submerged in the Des Moines River, in the 3800 block of NW 66th Avenue, east of Johnston.

Polk County Sheriff's Lieutenant Heath Osberg tells WHO Radio News, that a driver spotted the vehicle in the water and called 911.  When rescuers reached the SUV they were unable to see inside because the windows were tinted so dark.  The firefighters tore open the sunroof, and say no one was found inside the vehicle.

Crews from Ankeny, Johnston, and Saylor Township responded.
