DES MOINES, Iowa - Snow totals have been a moving target over the week as meteorologists have been trying to peg where the heaviest snow would end up from a massive snow storm moving across the Midwest.
Heavy snow moved into Iowa from the Northwest, while a second snow band moved in from the Southwest.
The map above is the 3:00 p.m. Friday snow prediction map from the National Weather Service.
Snow quickly started to cover roads Friday afternoon in South Des Moines during the drive time home. In other parts of the state, snow predictions changed dramatically.
For example in Council Bluffs/ Omaha less than an inch of snow was predicted late Friday afternoon, and snow totals were lowered dramatically across other parts of Western Iowa.
