DES MOINES, Iowa - A new Iowa business report called the Competitive Dashboard shows Iowa's business climate is generally strong, and competitive in some important areas, but we need more workers with advanced training.
In the report by the Iowa Business Council, Iowa ranks generally good for economic growth, education, governance, and health and wellness but gets poor marks for worker diversity and demographics.
The IBC recommends developing and implementing strategies to both up-skill Iowans and attract others into the workforce. To better inform students and parents on career opportunities in Iowa, especially middle skill jobs. IBC says it is essential to increase number of work-based learning partnerships, internships, externships, and apprenticeships in the state.
