DES MOINES, Iowa - The National Weather Service is predicting 4-5 inches of snow for much of Iowa Saturday night into Sunday, including Des Moines, Ames, Mason City, Marshalltown, Osceola, Ottumwa in Central and South Central Iowa, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and Waterloo in Eastern Iowa. Northwest Iowa gets 4-5 inches of new snow as well, including Carroll, Fort Dodge, and the rest of the Northwest corner of the state.
There could be some locally higher snow amounts possible.
Roads are expected to be snow covered and slippery, but winds will be lower than the last snow storm that moved through, so blowing and drifting is not expected.
