During National FFA week so Bob headed out to Southeast Polk for the Big Show to catch up with the FFA chapter there. One of the unique components is what they call "Aquaponics" where they raise fish and, of all things, lettuce:
Those are 400 gallon tanks which produce 100 Barramundi fish every eight months:
It's quite the set-up to say the least:
They then use the fertilized water from the fish tanks to feed the lettuce, which they use to feed students in the school lunch program:
It's a true farm to fork program, just another of the many examples of great things happening for FFA students across Iowa!
