FORT DODGE, Iowa - An officer radioed for help, telling police dispatch he felt dizzy and lightheaded after a traffic stop Sunday. By the time medics arrived, he was unresponsive in his patrol car.

Fort Dodge Police say the officer pulled over 28-year-old Kayla Potter around 5 p.m. Sunday. During the stop, the officer handled an unknown substance and starting feeling dizzy.

The medics who found the officer in his car gave him at least three doses of Narcan, the opioid overdose reversal drug, while in the ambulance and in the emergency room. The officer responded positively to the treatment and was released from the hospital Monday.

Investigators believe the substance was Fentanyl, but it is being tested for confirmation.
