DES MOINES, Iowa - The National Weather Service is tracking a storm that will bring snow and possible blizzard conditions across the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, and heavy rain and snow to Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois.
Snow totals predicted to the north includes several inches, up to a foot or more and strong winds.
"Measuring snow in the order of a foot in places in the Dakotas, and Minnesota, and into Western Wisconsin as well." Says National Weather Service Meteorologist Brad Small.
With the heavy rain to the south, and fast April snow melt, new flooding is a concern.
"The liquid equivalent of 2+ inches where this heavy snow falls. Since we're in April it's going to melt quickly, raising new concerns for flooding on the Missouri River." He says.
The Mississippi River, already in major flood stage along the Iowa/Illinois border, could also see additional flooding from the heavy snow across Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
