I love a good "Florida Man" story...a story that represents the weird (and criminal) behavior that seems to be always happening in the Sunshine State.
I know "Florida Man" stories have become very popular on social media but I have a special affinity for them because my wife's family is from Florida and I'm a frequent visitor to the state. For the record, I LOVE Florida and the residents of the state. But I have to admit...there are some very funny stories that originate in the state - particularly the criminal stories.
Here's the latest:
Florida man is facing charges after playing pretend in a police uniform.
Matthew Erris apparently made a bad choice since he was arrested this week for impersonating a police officer. He was caught after Hillsborough County deputies say he carried out a traffic stop on a man who turned out to be an undercover detective.
Deputies say Erris had an Airsoft gun that looked like the real thing, and they say he also had a light bar on top of his SUV and flashing lights in the grill.
Naturally, authorities want to know how many other people he tricked.
You have to wonder about the scene after the undercover cop tried to make the arrest..."You're under arrest!" "No, YOU'RE under arrest!"
