DES MOINES, Iowa - Heavy wet, sticky snow is expected to develop Saturday morning over northern Iowa and continue into the afternoon.
The National Weather Service says a band of 3 to 6 inches is likely with locally higher amounts possible closer to the Minnesota border in northeast Iowa. As much as 7-9 inches is possible in Mason City, near the I-35 corridor in North Central Iowa, and up to 12 inches of snow is possible in Decorah, in the far Northeastern part of the state.
Strong east shifting northeast winds of 35 to 40 mph will reduce visibility in the northern region.
In Central and eastern Iowa, rain and windy conditions are expected Saturday.
Then, on Sunday, cold temperatures across Iowa.
