People Feel THESE Topics Shouldn't Really Be Part Of A Conversation

We've all met them. The over-sharer. You usually realize that a person is a constant oversharer almost immediately. You'll have just met them, and they are revealing intimate details of their life and you are nodding and smiling and trying to end the conversation. Sometimes a person takes the time to get to know you before making the conversation awkward - but I often find that an oversharer can't help themselves and pretty much launches into uncomfortable topics RIGHT AWAY.

A new British survey, which could easily translate here, uncovers the most common topics people feel are socially unacceptable to talk about, with a person’s sex life the most off-limits topic, followed by a person’s bodily functions.

Top Ten Socially Unacceptable Topics to Talk About

  1. Sex Life
  2. Bodily Functions
  3. Personal Finances
  4. Salary
  5. Debt
  6. Miscarriage
  7. Infertility
  8. Addictions
  9. Religion
  10. Asking someone’s age

So, why don’t people want to talk about these topics? Well, more than half of those surveyed say they worry they’ll be judged if they were honest about personal issues, while 50% also simply find the topics “embarrassing.”

I am sure YOU'VE been involved in these type of conversations. What topic makes you the most uncomfortable when an acquaintance brings it up?
