Did you hear my interview with the co-hosts of the podcast, "Sleepwalker," this morning? (Check out this blog page to hear a podcast of it if you didn't!). We discussed artificial intelligence - an invention which will continue to dramatically change our lives in the future. That can be a good thing - artificial intelligence is helping folks with artificial limbs move them using brain power - and, of course, it can be a bad thing (hello, Skynet!!!).
The development of artificial intelligence is an ongoing thing. What do people think is the most important invention of the past 25 years?
A UK survey, which could easily translate here, asked folks to reveal their thoughts on the best inventions of the last 25 years, with WiFi easily topping the list. Overall, 48% of people say WiFi is their favorite invention, while 41% opted for smartphone technology.
Think of this for a moment - you can probably remember a time when WiFi and smartphones WEREN'T part of our lives. But now - these inventions are an omnipresent part of our day. Remember when people were amazed by fax machines? Many folks in the office thought they were a fad. And then we adopted them - thinking they were the wave of the future. And then, suddenly, they were outdated.
