DES MOINES, Iowa - Storms in the Southern United States are staying in the South, dropping the risk of severe storms for Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois today.
Nearly steady rain is still expected into at least the early afternoon, and the National Weather Service says there'll likely be periodic showers and storms into the evening.
All of Eastern Nebraska and Iowa are still at a lower risk of severe storms, and Eastern Iowa and Illinois are at a higher risk through the night.
Some rivers may rise to minor flood stage with the additional rain. The Mississippi River at Davenport is expected to stay in major flood stage.
