DES MOINES, Iowa-- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has signed a bill clearing the way for sports betting. Under the new law, people will be able to wager on sports in the state's 19 casinos, and also make bets online.
State lawmakers who backed the bill say it will bring sports betting out of the shadows and generate revenue. Opponents say it's an effort by the state's casinos to capture a new gambling audience and will cause more people to lose money who can't afford it.
