A Request For Dragon-Training Funds From The Government Is Rejected

Let's face it...with the popularity of Game Of Thrones and How to Train Your Dragon, interest in dragons is at an all-time high. And who wouldn't want the power to destroy your enemies (or just people who annoy you) with dragon fire? Or is that just me?

Anyhoo...

t's not every day you receive a letter from the Prime Minister of New Zealand, but for one 11-year-old that's exactly what happened after she tried to bribe PM Jacinda Ardern. The girl, identified as Victoria, had been showing an interest in dragons and psychics when she requested the Government allocate funds into researching the mythical creature.  She's a fan of the Dreamworks film series, “How To Train Your Dragon,” which recently released the third installment in the trilogy.

Victoria's brother posted to Reddit, explaining his sister wanted the Government to give her psychic powers so she could train dragons if they discovered any. So the 11-year-old sent a letter to the Prime Minister with her requests, including a $5 note.

Ardern has since responded to Victoria's request by sending her an official ministerial letterhead as well as her own handwritten message. "Thank you for getting in touch with the Government," the letter stated. "We were very interested to hear your suggestions about psychics and dragons, but unfortunately we are not currently doing any work in either of these areas. I am therefore returning your bribe money, and I wish you all the very best in your quest for telekinesis, telepathy, and dragons. Thanks again for writing!" Ardern attached the money to the letter.

The Prime Minister also handwrote a postscript on the letter telling hopeful dragon-trainer she’d keep an eye out for dragons, asking, "Do they wear suits??”

I am not very interested in dragon training, but if they hand out government funding for fighting (and talking) like a pirate, where's my grant application??????
