Iowa 14-year-old falls off SUV while car surfing, seriously hurt

DES MOINES, Iowa - A girl is in the hospital this weekend, seriously hurt after falling off an SUV driving in the parking lot of East High School.

An ambulance was called at 9:15 a.m. Friday morning to the school at East 14thand Walker, according to Sgt. Paul Parizek with the Des Moines Police Department.

Witnesses tell police that 14-year-old Priscilla Gallegos was car surfing on top of the SUV when it slowed and she fell onto the pavement, hitting her head.

A family member reports on social media that the girl had surgery Friday.

The driver of the car, a 17-year-old girl, is charged with reckless driving in juvenile court.
