DES MOINES, Iowa - A Des Moines softball player faces assault charges after police say he shoved an umpire to the ground. It happened Sunday afternoon at the Greater Des Moines Softball Complex.
Witnesses say the umpire kicked the player out of the game after he argued a call over a foul ball. Video captured the player pushing the the umpire to the ground.
The umpire injured his wrist during the fall.
WHO Channel 13 reports the player was ejected and his team disqualified from the game.
The name of the player arrested has not been released.
