OMAHA, Nebraska - A Blair teen was killed and five others were hurt after an SUV driven by a 14-year-old ran off a rural road into a cornfield and rolled.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department says 14-year-old Heidy Martinez was thrown from the SUV and killed in the crash a half-mile west of County Road 23 on County Road 18, north on a rough field road.

There were six kids in the SUV ages 13 and 14, two of them boys, four girls, being driven by a 14 year old with a temporary drivers permit that restricts having other minors in the car when driving. Only one of the teens was wearing a seat belt.

Investigators said a Chevy SUV with the six juveniles inside was southbound on a farm field road. There were two males and four females, ages 13 and 14 involved.

Of the remaining five kids, one was taken by medical helicopter to an Omaha hospital, one was taken by ambulance to Omaha, and three were taken to the Blair Hospital, where one was later transferred by medical helicopter to Omaha.

The names of the other teens and driver were not immediately released. More information is expected on Monday. Blair School Superintendent Randall Gilson sent an email to parents Friday:

Dear Blair Community School Parents: We are saddened to share that six Blair students were involved in a one car rollover accident this morning at 10:30 a.m. One student died as a result of the accident.
