As proclaimed by Governor Kim Reynolds on The Big Show on Wednesday:
The first locally grown ears being delivered to the steps of the State Capitol earlier in the day by our friends from Hy-Vee:
Our buddy Skip Sagar actually came out of retirement to represent Titan Tire for one last day to boil up the fresh corn:
No pressure Skip, but the corn is being prepared for Iowa's Chief Executive and Iowa's Ag Secretary:
Cooked to perfection, just in time for Governor Reynolds and Secretary Naig's arrival:
It's what we do in Iowa...eat Sweet Corn on the steps of the Statehouse:
Of course, there is plenty to go around for the tour groups:
Secretary Naig says like all other crops, Sweet Corn maturity has been delayed by the planting delays but he's hopeful it will be available on a mass basis in the next few days.
