Do you tear off your pizza crust or eat it first? If you eat it last, do you think it's the best part of the slice? If THAT is you, a restaurant is going to begin to sell you...just the crust.
The Internet is confused.
OKAY...so I'm a sucker for these restaurant promotions that are meant to go viral on the Internet. I admire the ingenuity. You'll recall I've discussed the Cheetos Chicken Sandwich at KFC and talked to a Cedar Rapids marketer about New Coke being reintroduced due to "Stranger Things."
So here's the story:
Starting on July 18th, the New Jersey-based Villa Italian Kitchens will be selling “Just The Crusts,” which is just that, a dish consisting of the crusts of Neapolitan pizzas. The menu item will sell for $2.75 and comes in a slice box filled with just crusts.
"We know that the crust is everyone’s favorite part of the pizza,” the chain shares, “so skipping straight to selling pizza crusts only seemed like the perfect idea."
As you can imagine, folks had some definite thoughts about the dish, with some even suggesting it’s some kind of late April Fool’s day joke, although the chain insists it’s real. Others are comparing it to breadsticks, while some are just confused as to where these crusts are coming from. “They make a pizza just to cut out the crust? Or the did the crust ever been on someone else's pizza and is an unclaimed leftover?," one person wrote. "If it's not one of these options, then it is a breadstick.”
What do YOU think? Remember the Seinfeld episode where one of the characters just wanted to sell the tops of muffins? That's now a thing.
