I want to send a heartfelt thank you to so many of you that have sent me congratulations over the last month. This certainly has been an exceptional time of life even to the point where, when I have received congratulations, I wasn’t always sure for which event!
The induction into the Iowa Broadcast Association’s Hall of Fame was certainly an exciting, unexpected event. The 2 week mission trip to Zimbabwe turned out to be an incredible success with hundreds, and even thousands of people flocking to see our group and hear our message with a large response. My birthday and Father’s Day were both phenomenal thanks to many of you. The Iowa State Fair “New Foods Experience” was terrific and I was honored to have been asked to be the emcee and see all the new foods you will experience at the fair this year.
But at the top of the list was the response to my message on my blog at www.vanharden.com about my personal life in regard to my upcoming marriage. It went viral and I received so much response, especially from people that have experienced similar life situations. It is still on that web site under “blogs.”
As I write this, it is Friday, July 19 and tomorrow is the joyous day when Becky and I will be married. I will be taking some days off next week creating a very unusual situation. Bonnie won’t be back from her vacation until Friday, July 26, when we will be broadcasting our Van and Bonnie Emergency Blood Drive at Valley West Mall from 5 to 9 am during our morning show. (Please help, by the way! Our local blood supplies are critically low.) But on Monday and Tuesday, Bonnie and I will both be gone at the same time. That’s never happened in nearly 25 years. Maxwell Schaeffer will fill in.
Anyway, thanks to all of you for not only being such great listeners, but being good friends!
