Iowa man pleads guilty to election fraud charges

HAZLETON, Iowa - A Buchanan County man has pleaded guilty to charges related to illegal election participation during the 2018 general election.

68 year old William Gibson of Hazleton registered to vote at the Hazleton City Hall in the 2018 election after falsely asserting that he was not a convicted felon.

Prosecutors said that Gibson then proceeded to attempt to vote in the election in spite of his ineligibility.

He faces up to 15 years in prison on each charge, as well as an additional 15 years for violating probation.
