Ames, Iowa man charged in roommate's murder

AMES, Iowa- An Ames man is charged with First Degree Murder, accused of killing his roommate.

Police were called to an apartment after 6 o'clock last night at 1210 Walton Drive, because of a report of a serious assault. Officers arrived and found a man there who had been stabbed. He was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, then transferred to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, where he later died. The victim's name has not been released, pending notification of relatives.

A roommate, 55-year-old David Hunter has been charged in the case, with First Degree Murder and Assault While Displaying a Weapon.

Police say it appears the roommates had gotten into an argument and Hunter is accused of attacking his roommate with a large knife.
