Coal Train Derails Near Red Oak, Iowa

A train derailed just west of Red Oak Wednesday morning and involved 20-30 coal cars. The Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency says the Burlington Northern Santa Fe coal train went off the tracks just after 4:00 a.m. under the Boxelder Avenue Bridge.

Investigators say there were no injuries and no hazards to the public. BNSF crews are on scene and more heavy equipment is expected to be brought in later Wednesday morning.
