The non-profit Family Farm History Foundation was founded in 2013 to preserve family farm memories. Since its founding, the FFHF funded the scanning and cataloguing of more than 19,00 Century and Heritage Farm files. These files were all previously just paper files in the IDALS office.
The Family Farm History Foundation has introduced a competition for FFA students. The contest is looking for submissions with the history of a farm and the family that lived and worked there, along with any details that add personality and uniqueness to the story of that farm. Students have the option to write their stories as a paper, short article, or video. Submissions are due January 31, 2020. The full rules to their contest can be found here.
The FFHF launched a website in August 2019 where farmers can create their own family site to input their own data. Users can make their files private or public to be shared and searched for by others. The FFHF website can be found here. Questions about the Family Farm History Foundation or the FFA contest can be sent to familyfarmhistory@gmail.com.
