DES MOINES, Iowa - Light snow is on the way for metro Des Moines late this weekend.
The National Weather Service says rain will continue through Saturday, but more rain starting Sunday afternoon will turn to snow as temperatures drop.
There could be a half-inch of snow for the Monday morning drive to work in Des Moines.
Heavier amounts up to an inch an a half are expected in western and northern Iowa where driving could be more dangerous.
Travelers will want to pay close attention to the weather this weekend, if you are headed north and west especially.
Blizzard conditions are possible in parts of the Dakotas, Minnesota and Nebraska.
Heavy snow starts Saturday in Nebraska and South Dakota and will move into North Dakota and Minnesota Sunday.
