Iowa Secretary of State's office has 2020 Caucus tips

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowans who aren't yet registered to vote but still want to take part in next month's presidential caucuses aren't out of luck.

"The parties have already polled the existing file, so if you're not registered to vote or need to change your party affiliation you should do that at your caucus site the night of the caucus" says Iowa Secretary of State's Office spokesman Kevin Hall.

He also says there are lots of 17-year-old Iowans who can take part in next month's caucuses.

"As long as you're going to be 18 by Election Day in November you can participate in the June primaries and in the Iowa Caucuses. If you're not registered to vote yet and you're 17 you can do that at your caucus location" Hall says.

He also says people who don't have political affiliation but want to take part in the caucuses can claim a political party at their caucus site, then give up that affiliation the very next day if they close to.

The 2020 Iowa Presidential Caucuses are Monday, February 3rd.
