DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is filling a vacancy on the state's highest court.
Dana Oxley was appointed Tuesday to fill the vacancy that came with the death of Chief Justice Mark Cady last November.
Oxley, from Swisher, is a private practice attorney with a Cedar Rapids law firm. She's a graduate of the University of Iowa Law School with an undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa.
In a statement, Reynolds says: "Dana Oxley is an exceptional lawyer with a uniquely Iowa story. She will be a valuable new addition to the Iowa Supreme Court. I look forward to watching her serve Iowans in this important role for years to come.”
Reynolds will have another Supreme Court vacancy to fill when current acting Chief Justice David Wiggins retires from the bench in March.
