President Trump to Sign USMCA, getting praise from Iowa Senator Grassley

WASHINGTON D.C. - President Donald Trump is set to sign the USMCA (United States Mexico Canada Agreement) trade agreement today in Washington. It's the agreement that replaces NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement).

The signing is getting the praise of Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, who says it preserves access to markets that have served as a bread and butter export market for Iowa, reaching $6.6 billion in 2018.

Former Iowa House Speaker Linda Upmeyer will be in attendance.

The agreement has been signed by Mexico, but still need the approval of Canada.

Trump made renegotiating the 26-year-old NAFTA pact a major campaign issue in 2016, and plans to tout its replacement at events in coming weeks as he campaigns for a second term in office.
