Weekend snow possible in Northern Iowa

JOHNSTON, Iowa -- Forecasters say a handful of counties in Northern Iowa could pick-up four to six inches of snow Saturday night into Sunday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for portions of Northern Iowa from late Saturday night through Sunday afternoon, due to the potential for snowfall and gusty winds. The Weather Service also says there could be a light glazing of ice.

The far northeast corner of the state could see six inches of snow or more.

A wintry mix of precipitation is possible in central Iowa, with less than a half-inch of snow expected Saturday night into Sunday morning.

NWS forecasters say temperatures in Central Iowa through the day Sunday will be in the lower to middle 30s.
