Iowa braces for mid-week cold snap

JOHNSTON, Iowa -- There's a big change coming in the weather for mid-week.

"We're seeing a nearly 40 degree temperature swing from Wednesday to Thursday morning. Lows plus-or-minus zero, either side of that. The brisk winds that will accompany this colder air will drop the windchills even further" says National Weather Service Meteorologist Brad Small says.

He says the cold snap will be short-lived.

"It'll be a quick shot. Friday, an equal rebound in the positive direction versus what we're going to experience Wednesday into Thursday" Small says.

He says temperatures will be back into the 40's by Saturday.

Small says there's also a slight chance for rain changing to snow through the day Wednesday into Wednesday night. He says little no no accumulation is expected.
