Council Bluffs Man Accused Of Attempted Murder, Threw Woman In Front Of Car

POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY, Iowa - It was not what a young Omaha couple expected after spending a quiet evening Saturday at a restaurant in Crescent, Iowa. That ended with a near life changing event for the couple and with a Council Bluffs man behind bars facing a number of charges that includes attempt to commit murder.

Emily Schulze and her fiancé were on Old Lincoln Highway about to enter Council Bluffs when she says they saw a disturbance along the side of the road. Then a woman was thrown in front of their moving car.

Schulze tells KFAB Radio News her fiancé swerved to avoid hitting the woman and turned the car around. They were then able to get the woman into their vehicle and took off. Schulze was on the phone with 911 making arrangements to meet with Pottawattamie County Sheriff's deputies when the back of their vehicle was rammed and the suspect took off. That sent their vehicle into a ditch and into a yard.

Luckily, no one was seriously injured.

A search was conducted by the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's office and they found 37 year old Kyle Cline.

Cline was arrested on warrants for 1st degree burglary with bodily injury and 5th degree criminal mischief. Following the investigation into the hit-and-run, Cline was booked on two counts of assault - use of a weapon, domestic abuse assault with a dangerous weapon, attempt to commit murder, failure to provide proof of vehicle insurance and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

The woman assisted, 35 year old Aubree Cline was arrested on an outstanding warrant from another law enforcement agency.
