DES MOINES, Iowa -- An 8-year-old child's is in the hospital after being hit by a car in Des Moines late Thursday afternoon.
Des Moines Police say the child was hit by a westbound vehicle in the 600 block of University Ave. just before 5:00 p.m.
Police say the child, who was alert at the scene, was taken to the hospital with multiple injuries.
The department's traffic unit is investigating.
