Iowa Democratic Party completes partial Caucus recount

DES MONES, Iowa -- The Iowa Democratic Party is out with results of a partial recount in the 2020 Presidential Caucus.

The party says a recount in 23 of the more than 1,700 precincts is complete--and the results haven't changed.

According to the latest numbers, former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg still holds razor-thin lead over Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

Buttigieg has 562.954 State Delegate Equivalents (SDEs), while Sanders has 562.021--a difference of 0.933 SDEs.

As it stands now, Buttigieg has 14 National Delegates, Sanders has 12.

This week's recount, and a recanvass earlier this month, were requested by both campaigns.

It also appears the Party is ready to close the books on the 2020 Caucuses, with an official certification of results scheduled for Saturday, March 1st--nearly a month after the the February 3rd Caucuses.
