Iowa Veteran Hoping For Return Of His Mobility Scooter

Coralville, Iowa Police are helping a military veteran find his stolen scooter. Randy Moyer says he's lost his independence after someone stole his scooter, which is his main method of transportation.

The 61-year-old Air Force veteran was staying with friends in Cedar Rapids when he ended up in the hospital for a few days earlier this month.

After he got out, friends realized someone stole his scooter. “Bad luck seems to follow me,” Moyer told KCRG-TV 9.

Moyer has been using a wheelchair for about seven years. He lost almost all the mobility in his legs and says it’s very painful. "Both my hips are full of arthritis. It's bone on bone basically,” Moyer says.

The family says they filed a police report immediately. The family also says they won't ask any questions when the scooter is returned.

The cost of a motorized scooter is roughly $3,000. KCRG-TV 9 reports Cedar Rapids Police have entered information into the National Crime Information Center Database, in case the scooter is found somewhere else.
