Charges Filed Against Man After Missing Teen Found Safe in Johnston

GRIMES, Iowa - A 21-year-old man is accused of helping a teenage runaway from Mississippi.

Jared Wright of Lawton, Oklahoma is charged with harboring a runaway. He'll have his initial court appearance Monday.

A missing girl from the state of Mississippi was found safe in Johnston Sunday afternoon.

The Polk County Sheriff's office was contacted by the Belmont Mississippi Police Department about a missing 15-year-old girl who may have been inside a Walmart store in Grimes.

The store was closed down while a search of the general area was conducted. Fifteen year-old Monica O'Bryan , who'd been missing from Mississippi since last Tuesday, was found safe at Johnston High School just after 5:30 pm. Police found her location when the girl sent a snapchat to her mother.

A male who was with her at the high school was taken into custody fro questioning. WJTV reports O'Bryan's family members said she suffers from a medical condition that may impair her judgement.
