IOWA CITY, Iowa - Iowa Democratic congressman Dave Loebsack issued a statement Thursday endorsing former vice president Joe Biden for president.
“Vice President Biden will restore character to the White House and bring the experience necessary to deliver meaningful progress for the American people,” said Loebsack.
The seven term U.S. Representative joins Iowa's two other Democratic congress members, Cindy Axne and Abbey Finkenauer, in backing Biden. Loebsak had previously endorsed Pete Buttigieg before the February 3rd Iowa caucus. Buttigieg has since dropped out of the race for the Democratic nomination, which is now largely a two person contest between Biden and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Axne endorsed Biden in late January, prior to the Iowa caucus. Finkenauar endorsed Biden in early January.
Loebsack plans to retire at the end of his current term in January.
