WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - Hy-Vee is cutting it's store hours in response to the COVID-19/coronavirus pandemic.
The grocery store hours will be shortened to 8:00 a.m.until 8:00 p.m.seven days a week, starting Thursday.
Hy-Vee says staffers will use the extra time to re-stock items in high demand and sanitize areas of the store.
The company says its convenience stores will continue to operate under normal hours.
It's also outsourcing its online deliveries to third parties such as Shipt and Door Dash in order to help employees focus on pickup orders. It's also warning that online deliveries could be delayed because of current high demand because of the coronavirus.
In addition, Hy-Vee is suspending the weekly advertising circular it sends to stores and newspapers. It says current high demand for many products makes it impossible to guarantee the fulfillment of some items.
