DES MOINES, Iowa - There's a chance of severe weather in Iowa Thursday.
The National Weather Service says all modes of severe weather are possible with hail and wind being the main threats. A few tornadoes are also possible, especially along and South of Highway 20. Rainfall could lead to minor river flooding into the weekend across northern Iowa.
The areas or possible severe weather include much of central and southern Iowa. Potential river flooding is possible in northern Iowa. The risk of severe weather is expected to peak between 2 pm and 8 pm Thursday afternoon.
Meanwhile, moderate rainfall is predicted overall for Wednesday and Thursday in Iowa. The first round should end by early afternoon Wednesday. A second round should arrive late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. Minor flooding from the rainfall is possible over the weekend into next week.
