DES MOINES, Iowa - Bridgestone is closing down its Des Moines plant for two weeks over the COVID-19/coronavirus outbreak. The shutdown will start Sunday at 6 a.m. and continue until April 6th.
The closure is part of a mass shutdown of all Bridgestone plants in North and South America.
The Des Moines facility's union, Local 310L, says all employees are eligible for unemployment as well as Subpay, which subsidizes unemployment benefits to a total of 80 percent of normal pay.
