Nebraska's first COVID-19 coronavirus death has been reported in Douglas County.
On Friday, the Douglas County Health Department confirmed that a resident in his 50's died from COVID-19.
The man who is believed to be the state's first coronavirus-related death, also suffered from serious underlying health conditions. According to the health department, the man had been in self-quarantine at home since March 11th after having contact with a known COVID-19 case out of state.
“The family of this individual has our most sincere sympathies,” DCHD Director Dr. Adi Pour said in Friday's press release. “This new disease has been in our community for only a short while, but those with co-morbidities are at a greater risk of complications.”
