DES MOINES, Iowa - The COVID-19 coronavius outbreak is causing changes for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
The D-N-R says bathrooms are closed in Iowa state parks through April 15th.
Because bathrooms aren't available, camping is limited to self-contained campers with their own bathrooms.
The D-N-R also says shelters, camping cabins, youth camps and lodges are closed because of the lack of bathroom facilities.
Camping through April 15 will be available for walk-ins only on a first-come, first-served basis.
The DNR is advising against the use of playgrounds during the pandemic because park staff are unable to keep them clean according to CDC guidelines. The department says residents should use their own discretion with the use of playground..
