Polk County Launches Action Plan for COVID-19 Outbreak

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Polk County Emergency Management Agency has outlined an Incident Action Plan to deal with the COVID-19/coronavirus outbreak.

The plan assigns responsibilities to county staff members and identifies priorities during the pandemic.

It also names 15 goals to be pursued. Among them is protection of the public, healthcare workers and responders.

Other goals include establishing a medical coordination center, developing plans to manage drive-through testing for the virus, providing guidance for public health practices, determining mental health needs and providing services to the homeless community .

Polk County Emergency Management says a deeper review of the action plan will take place later this week before it publishes a final version.

It includes safety precautions to be taken at county buildings.
