DES MOINES, Iowa -- Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines says it's big cats are coronavirus free.
The zoo's statement comes after news tigers and lions in the Bronx Zoo are positive for COVID-19, and likely caught the virus from their handlers.
Blank Park says it's animals are coronavirus symptom-free, and protocols require keepers to wear personal protection equipment when preparing food and interacting with animals.
The zoo says it has no plans to preemptively test lions and tigers for COVID-19, which it says carries risks of it's own.
