Calhoun County Sheriff Pleads Not Guilty to Domestic Abuse

CALHOUN COUNTY, Iowa - The Sheriff of Calhoun County has pleaded not guilty after being charged with domestic abuse and assault on police officers.

Sheriff Scott Anderson was arrested in Manson late Saturday night after being accused of pinning a woman to a bed and headbutting a Manson police officer.

Court documents say officers arrived at a residence and heard a woman yelling at Anderson to get off her as he pinned her down on a bed and refused to let her go.

It took several officers eight to 10 minutes to remove Anderson from the home and place him in a squad car.

Anderson is now free on bond. He been the sheriff in Calhoun County since 2017.

Anderson is also accused of sexual harassment and retaliation by Tami Swank, who worked as a dispatcher in the Calhoun Sheriff's Office. The Iowa Civil Rights Commission is reviewing a complaint submitted by Swank.
