WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - A large fire heavily damaged a West Des Moines retirement complex Monday evening. The fire at a building that was under construction could be see for miles.
Fire crews arrived at 8950 Coachlight Drive around 6 p.m. after a report of smoke. The fire was in the Cedar Ridge Village Retirement Complex, which is under construction and scheduled to open in the fall of this year.
Several other fire departments were called in to help battle the fire. Wind played a factor in the difficulty crews had in bringing the fire under control.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
