Iowa infectious disease doctor says two peaks likely with COVID-19

DES MOINES, Iowa -- A Des Moines infectious disease specialist says there will likely be two COVID-19 coronavirus peaks.

"At some point, we will see a peak in the number of cases--we may see that in the following, perhaps, two to three weeks. After that, is when we might see the peak in deaths" says UnityPoint Health's Dr. Rossana Rosa.

She also says among the many things that aren't known about COVID-19 are the antibodies produced by someone who's had it and recovered get it again.

"Do they confer partial protection or full protection--and how long does your body keep production those substances? Do we produce them forever and ever or do you only produce them for a few weeks and months?" she says.

Rosa says even after the peak in cases and deaths, it will take time to get through a slow decline in both
