ANKENY, Iowa - A man's behind bars after being accused of attempting to kidnap a child in Ankeny Sunday.
Police responded to a call of a possible kidnapping in progress in the 1300 block of NW 18th Street at around 4:15 am.
Officers say 46-year-old Paul Jamison had a knife and attempted to flee the scene with a child, but was caught after a foot chase.
The child was found safe. Jamison is in the Polk County Jail and is charged with 2nd Degree Kidnapping, Going Armed with Intent and Displaying a Dangerous Weapon. He has a $5,000 bond.
