Floodwaters Filled Downtown Davenport One Year Ago

Davenport residents won't forget where they were or what they were doing last April 30. Thursday marks the one-year anniversary of the HESCO barrier break on the Mississippi River in downtown Davenport.

Around 3:30 in the afternoon a temporary flood wall failed and parts of downtown were flooded with several feet of water. Two days later the Mississippi River reached 22-point-six-four feet, breaking the previous record set in 1993.

It crested at 22-point-seven feet later that day.
