DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa's three public universities are facing $187 million in losses by the end of the summer because of disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The University of Iowa expects to lose $76 million, while the Northern Iowa is projecting a $28 million loss and Iowa State is set to lose $64 million
The presidents of the three schools revealed the grim news at a meeting with the Board of Regents.
Together, the three have lost $41 in refunds for students.
The three schools are set to receive combined $45.5 million in federal relief money through the CARES Act, which will only replenish a fraction of their losses.
