DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa has a one-day high number of new positive COVID-19 coronavirus cases.
The Department of Public Health says 739 new cases brings the state's total to 7,885 positive cases.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds says increased testing has created a backlog of validation through the Test Iowa program - something she says will be hopefully be resolved by this weekend.
Reynolds also says resolution of those delays will create the appearance in a spike in positive cases.
Public Health says 2,899 people, nearly 37-percent of those infected, have recovered.
Eight more people have died from virus, bringing the state's death toll to 170.
The state says 345 people are hospitalized with coronavirus.
